Band class is for everyone at LCMA! Students will have a wonderful opportunity to get involved with music by learning how to read and perform on a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Here are some of the reasons why your child should join:
-LCMA has a longstanding tradition of excellence in band performance. Our Symphonic and Jazz Bands both earned a Superior rating from all of the certified adjudicators that were present at this year's Music Performance Assessments.
-Learning to play an instrument is lots of fun and very rewarding to the student! Students are always engaged in learning, and have opportunities to perform as a team member and individually as they become confident in their constantly improving skills.
-Playing a musical instrument is another way for your child to express their creativity and to build confidence in themselves during the Middle School years. Band students also tend to build strong lifelong friendships.
-Enrichment opportunities are provided to students who advance more quickly than the class so that they don't stop learning. We have a pass-off system for our beginners as well as opportunities for students to perform solos & ensembles and audition for county and state honor bands.
-Students are given the opportunity for extra help from Mr. McElwain daily before and after school by appointment.
-Playing an instrument has been proven to develop the brain more so than in students who don't play an instrument. This has been studied extensively through research of brain imagery and student achievement in standardized test scores, grades, and more.
